Mississippi-born guitarist and singer Charley Pride is considered one of country music's greatest living performers, and of the genre's few black country music leaders. In fact, Pride was one of the first black musicians to perform at the Grand Ol Opry in 1967, and has since played toured around the world. Pride's music has reached what many consider to be the height of critical and commercial success, with 8 of his singles making it into the Billboard Hot 100, and a Grammy Award win for his song "Just Between You and Me."

Since the split of the Smiths in the late 1980's, members Johnny Marr and Morrissey have repeatedly stated that they will not reunite the band. Morrissey even went as far as to say that he would "eat his own testicles" before doing so. Needless to say, seeing the two perform their greatest hits before a live audience might take a few years, if it occurs in this lifetime at all. Why wait? These Charming Men are a tribute-band to one of everybody's favorite British alternative rock band: The Smiths. The lead singer's voice evokes the same sensitivity and suffering that Morrissey's croon evokes and the instruments keep up that quintessential Smiths sound.
