»Coal Chamber

March 31, 2015 6:20 PM

Coal Chamber is an alternative metal act from Los Angeles that is best known for its contributions to the establishment of a darker-themed brand of nu-metal. After spending several years trying to gain a foothold on the burgeoning LA alternative metal scene, Coal Chamber released its eponymous debut album in 1997 to unprecedented critical acclaim, and would later be named as the band's most successful album. Having then established itself as one of the premier acts performing in the nu-metal genre, Coal Chamber made the dubious decision to begin branching out into other sub-genres of metal with their subsequent releases, taking a more listener-friendly and melodic approach to metal that was generally well received by audiences and critics. In 2003, Coal Chamber disbanded when its lead singer decided to pursue an opportunity with another band. However, as of 2011, the band has reunited and is looking forward to continuing where they left off.

New York based band Bayside was formed by Antony Raneri, who named the band after his hometown, Bayside, Queens. The group produces high school friendly hard rock with emo tendencies, which are fairly warranted considering the band was in a tragic car accident on it's first tour that killed one band member and severely injured another. Despite this tragedy, the band continued to release standard alternative music, garnering a huge fan base of teenagers willing to throw down their parents money to buy band merch and start mosh pits at every Bayside show.
