Virginia Woolf's Orlando
Ruth Nagel Jones Theatre January 29, 2015 7:00 PM
106 Central Street
Wellesley, MA 02481
In this blithe and passionate adaptation of the 1928 gender-flipping Virginia Woolf novel, transformation and identity are magically explored. "Orlando" tells the story of an individual born as a male in Elizabethan England. Over the course of an astounding 300-year lifespan, Orlando mysteriously transforms into a female. Distinguished playwright Sarah Ruhl adapts and Woolf soars, with both writers winning accolades from actors and audiences alike. Wellesley Summer Theatre Company and director Nora Hussey welcome back New York and Boston-area professionals Catherine LeClair, John Davin, Woody Gaul and John Kinsherf, who join Wellesley College student Elisabeth Yancey and alumna Vicky George in staging this production at Ruth Nagel Jones Theatre.

Giraffage was created by 23-year-old San Francisco native Charlie Yin, who aptly named his first full album Comfort. The multi-instrumentalist produces smooth electronic music that brings together the sounds of nature and synthetic beats to create a crisp medley of soothing ambient music. Giraffage's songs all carry a dream-like quality that entrances the listener and lends the music the surreal sound so definitive of the electronica genre. This sample-pop artist recently signed with Alpha Pup Records and releases his music online on a "pay what you want" basis, and the catchiness of his music and popularity of his tours suggest that he's on the rise.
