    Emerald Rae
    Gore PlaceOctober 01, 2014 7:30 PM
    52 Gore Street
    Waltham, MA 02453
Championship fiddler Emerald Rae may bleed Scottish plaid, but this multi-talented singer-songwriter is actually Boston born and bred. A grand-prize winner at the U.S. Scottish Fiddle Championships when she was but a wee lass of 18, Rae's debut album, "If Only I Could Fly", pulls from both American and Celtic roots, as did the Scots-Irish music of the Appalachians. She's also spent time in Glasgow, as well as at the famed Berklee College of Music, which results in a skillful mix of traditional and modern influences. She's set to perform both folk favorites and new original songs at this intimate Gore Place concert.

Pop punk band MxPx formed in Bremerton, Washington in 1992 as Magnified Plain, a name that was abbreviated into M.P. before the band eventually decided on MxPx. The band released its debut album, Pokinatcha, in 1994, while all three members were still in high school. Similar to MxPx's future work, the album demonstrates strong Christian influences as well as the quick-paced style of hardcore punk, though the band prefers not to be classified as a Christian band. With the release of its 2000 album The Ever Passing Moment, MxPx began favoring a pop punk sound that defines its subsequent releases, including the band's 2012 record, Plans Within Plans.

Formed in Claremont, California in 2000, We Are Scientists makes a style of alternative-rock that has widely been marred by critical reception of the band's studio albums. But despite being panned, the band carries on and continues to tour - hoping to find its musical legs on the road.

    Brattle Street
    Cambridge, MA 2138
Discover the nearly 400-year history of Cambridge on a stroll through iconic Harvard Square. Led by a guide dressed in period clothing, Cambridge Historical Tours takes you on a trip through the history of Cambridge from 1630 to the 20th century. Linked to but distinct from Boston's history, it's said that if Boston is where America was born, Cambridge is where it grew up. A hotbed of 19th-century history in particular, the story of Cambridge features a colorful cast of abolitionists, literary luminaries, politicians, philosophers and more, along with the nation's oldest institute of higher learning, Harvard University. You can choose one (or both) of two tours: one highlighting the Harvard University campus and the other exploring the Old Cambridge Historic District. Please see the full description below for detailed schedules and departure times on the two tours available.
