Quietly tucked among the gorgeous historic houses in Worcester, it can be easy to miss the Bancroft Tower, but this place is definitely worth a visit. Erected at the start of the 20th Century in memory of American historian and statesman, George Bancroft, this 56-foot (17-meter) natural stone and granite tower is designed to look like a miniature feudal castle. Vandalism has resulted in the actual access to the tower being restricted but the grounds surrounding it are well-maintained making it a perfect place to have a picnic or just take in the quiet, beautiful atmosphere. The Bancroft Tower was included in the National Register of Historical Places in 1980.
