Christ the King Lutheran Church traces its origins to the year 1959 when Reverend Fred Juilfs was called upon by the United Lutheran Church American to take a call for creating a new Lutheran place of worship for Tigard's community. The church's primary goal is to embrace everyone and let them seek His Love and blessings. Christ the King Lutheran Church runs a number of ministries including Good Neighbor Center Meals and Stephen Ministry. Good Neighbor Center Meals is set up to serve meals to the homeless and the poor. Stephens Ministry involves learned members offering Christian guidance to those who face hardships and challenges. Lutheran World Relief Donations sends shipments to the needy. These include baby care and personal care items, among others.
A Protestant Episcopal place of worship, St. James Episcopal Church strives to reach out to its community members through sharing God's Word and encouraging them to pray to the Lord and seek his blessings. Today, Portland Vineyard Church runs several ministries including Youth ministry, Women's ministry and Worship ministry among others. Women's ministry brings women together and enables them to study the Lord's message in an environment where they get to share their experiences with their fellow members. For over 40 years Southwest Church of Christ has been a haven of peace, faith and community in Portland's suburban area.
