    »Hec-ras Modeling Workshop

    October 25, 2014 8:00 AM

This two day workshop provides HEC-RAS Steady Flow River Hydraulics Modeling training. The Hydrologic Engineering Center—River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) is a computer software designed to simulate water surface profiles and velocities for a network of natural and constructed watercourses. HEC-RAS is widely used throughout the world as an industry standard hydraulics program. The lectures and lab sessions will concentrate on teaching and demonstrating principle of hydraulics and hydrology and how to use the software in practical engineering applications. Participants will learn by doing, while using the HEC-RAS software on their own computers. The Software and Documentations are free downloaded from http://www.hec.usace.army.mil/software/hec-ras/ By participating in this workshop, you will be able to construct a complete HEC-RAS model using the exercises provided in the course. Performance of channel network, bridge and culvert design and analysis will be conducted along with the sample projects. Introduction to flood studies using HEC-RAS will be provided. Participants will gain confidence in applying HEC-RAS to a variety of modeling problems from the lectures and exercises provided. Troubleshooting and how to review, verify and calibrate HEC-RAS models will be provided. Target Audience This workshop will benefit anyone involved with the river hydraulics, hydrotechnical engineers, water resources engineers, dam safety engineers, river forecasting engineers, watershed planning and advisory groups, mining and oil and gas resource companies, water policy decision makers, and other technical personnel responsible for open channels, flood mitigation, flood forecasting, water management infrastructures such as bridges, reservoir, spillways, and culverts.

    »Boy and Bear

    October 25, 2014 8:00 PM

Shortly after forming in 2009, Sydney five-piece Boy & Bear had landed a single on the radio. With its charming, well-crafted indie folk tinged by blues rock, the band sounds more like it formed in the backwoods of the Catskill Mountains or on the banks of the Mississippi, rather than in Australia. Despite its geographic isolation, the group grabbed the attention of indie folk-darlings Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling, who both asked the band to tour with them, building Boy & Bear a reputation for its heartfelt and impressive live performances. As the band tours more and more outside its motherland, it will undoubtedly jump to the forefront of the indie folk scene.

    October 26, 2014 6:00 PM

Formed outside of Oakland, CA in 1992 by a few guys who like to drink beer, play hard rock and head bang - Machine Head has gone on to be one of the more innovative modern heavy metal bands with an inventive instrumental approach and florid stage show. Though the group has experienced a number of line up changes since its inception, the group still knows how to rock out and the band's live shows are testament to this.
