»St. Andrew's Cathedral

The third to have been constructed in Victoria, St. Andrew's Cathedral was completed in 1892. Designed in the High Victorian Gothic style, the Roman Catholic cathedral features two asymmetrical towers, giving it the 'unfinished' look the style was known for. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990, St. Andrew's Cathedral is also known for its artwork, which includes 21 stained-glass and three rose windows.

»Netherlands Centennial Carillon

During Canada's centennial celebrations in 1967, the Dutch community in British Columbia, gifted this melodious wonder to the city. The Netherlands Centennial Carillon was unveiled by the Her Majesty Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. Located at the intersection of Belleville Street and Government Street, the carillon features 62 bells, that chime during the day, filling the streets with its music.

»Victoria Conservatory of Music

Victoria Conservatory of Music teaches music including keyboard, strings, brass, percussion, woodwinds, theory and composition, jazz and music therapy. It offers group and individual lessons and the students get a chance to perform at various venues. The conservatory has been teaching music since 1964 and has students coming in from all over the world. The building itself is worth visiting too. For it was a former Metropolitan United Church, the original portion of this building dates back to 1890. The building includes original stone facade, stain glass windows and sky lights, spiral wooden staircase, pews and lots of old woodwork including a pipe organ that has been restored.

»Congregation Emanu-El

One of Canada's oldest functional synagogue, Congregation Emanu-El dates back to 1863. Claiming to be the city's first building to have its cornerstone laid by the Freemasons of Victoria, Congregation Emanu-El is a Romanesque Revival brick structure spread over two stories. Lauded for its Second-Empire style of architecture, the building was recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1977, as well as a heritage site in 1979.
