Robertson, NSW 2577
+61 2 9931 1111 (Tourist Information)
Situated at the top of the Macquarie Pass on rich volcanic soil, Robertson boasts a phenomenal annual rainfall of 1,950mm--as all viewers of the feature film Babe
will appreciate! This combination of rich soil and rainfall supported a dense rain-forest, the Yarrawah Brush, which formed an impenetrable barrier. However, the Robertson Land Acts of 1881 granted land to thousands of settlers and provided the impetus for clearing the forest. The small Robertson Nature Reserve remains as a monument to the pioneers. The charming town offers historical weatherboard buildings, crafts, gifts and antiques, cafes, restaurants, accommodation and a jazz festival.
