»Dopapod

April 20, 2015 7:00 PM

The cross-genre sound of Dopapod is the result of fearless experimentation and a disregard for stylistic rules. With a buffet mix of influences that includes electronic and indie, classic and alternative rock, the four-piece band from Brooklyn first captured its sound in 2009 with its debut album Radar. Critically acclaimed for its experimental finesse, the album set the standard high for Dopapod and the band responded with its 2011 live follow-up I Saw Live Dopapod Live Evil I Was. Though recorded live the record featured spliced and mixed multi-track recordings that demonstrated the bands mastery of both dubstep drops and guitar-powered rock. Dopapod released its second studio album, Drawn Onward, in 2011.

Neshama Carlebach,  a leading superstar in Jewish Entertainment, is continuing the legacy established by her father Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach.   Like her father, Neshama's talent and charisma captivate and endear her to people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds.  Neshama has performed and taught  in cities worldwide, has sung on the Broadway stage, has sold more than one million records, and was a six-time entrant in the 2011 Grammy Awards.  Neshama was one of the creators of the Broadway play "Soul Doctor".  Her ninth recording,  Soul Daughter,  features performances by the original Broadway cast of the musical.  Neshama is currently touring with a new band and gospel choir, and joyfully raising her two sons, Rafael and Micah. A classically trained musician who is equally versed in rock, jazz and world music, Josh Nelson combines his broad range of influences into a breathtaking musical style that is accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Whether appearing solo or with an elite ensemble of world-class musicians, Joshs presence and performance style is high-energy and captivating. His music builds community, lifting up congregations and concert audiences alike through experiences that are at once energizing and deeply moving. This unprecedented collaboration brings together Neshama Carlebach and Josh Nelson combining two very different Jewish journeys and traditions into a meaningful and uplifting musical experience. Their voices and soulful message come together to bring newfound unity to the Jewish people, both in the Diaspora and Israel. Together they create a sound as provocative, boundary pushing, and intimate as those created by their musical and spiritual mentors, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach Debbie Friedman.
