    Young Frankenstein
Lakewood Center for the ArtsSeptember 24, 2014 7:30 PM
    368 South State Street
    Lake Oswego, OR 97034
It's alive! Hollywood's king of farce and parody, Mel Brooks, reunited with the creative team behind "The Producers" for this theatrical reimagining of "Young Frankenstein", the 1974 comedy spoof that took on the classical horror film genre. The musical follows young Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") as he tries to complete his grandfather's experiments to raise the dead. He's aided by the hunchbacked, bulging-eyed Igor ("Eye-gore"), his beautiful lab assistant, Inga, and the frightfully eccentric housekeeper Frau Blucher, who together sing a number of frightfully catchy tunes like "Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' on the Ritz." It would be a monstrous mistake to miss this winner of the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.

    Old Crow Medicine Show

    1037 Southwest Broadway
    Portland, OR 97205
The Nashville based folk outfit Old Crow Medicine Show makes a style of music that's nowadays often hard to come by. The group's twangy string arrangements, simple rhythm accompaniments and back woodsy vocals all combine to create a unique form of music that hearkens back to the glory days of yesteryear when musicians didn't need electricity to make music. The group was formed in 1998 and even though the band's style has evolved over time to incorporate elements of bluegrass, country and blues, all the members of Old Crow Medicine Show have all grown to become accomplished instrumentalists and when playing live the band plays with a high level of stunning fervency.

    128 North West 11th Avenue
    Portland, OR 97253
Famous as both a Tony-winning Broadway musical and a star-studded film that won Jennifer Hudson an Academy Award, "Dreamgirls" is a soulful sensation and a chart-topping favorite for millions worldwide. Featuring '60s Motown hits and inspired by true stories of R&B stars like the Supremes, the Shirelles, James Brown and Jackie Wilson, "Dreamgirls" follows the tumultuous rise to fame of a female trio from Chicago whose joy and celebration come hand-in-hand with deceit and betrayal. The sparkle, sass and sorrow of the girls' journey is captured in unforgettable songs like "One Night Only," "Cadillac Car," "Steppin' to the Bad Side," "I Am Changing" and the gorgeous torch song "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going."
