Olivia Newton-John is an actress and country pop singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia who best known for her role of Sandy in the film adaptation of Grease. She released her first album If Not for You in 1971, and won her first Grammy only two years later in 1973 for her country single "Let Me Be There." Her performance as leading lady opposite John Travolta in the 1978 film Grease, helped the movie become that year's biggest box-office hit. Newton-John became synonymous with her character and never earned the same attention she gained from soundtrack hits like "Hopelessly Devoted to You," but the film is now a cult classic that will ensure her reputation as an entertainer lives on long after her career is over.

Sarasota, FL 34236
Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo is an all-male ballet corps that interprets the conventions of classical and romantic ballet in new and interesting ways. For one, all ballet parts written for women are performed in drag. As if this ballet faux-pas was not enough, the troupe adds physical comedy to a medium that is traditionally synonymous in the world of performing arts with "gracefulness." However, comedy is not the only thing you're in for - more serious ballet performances are included in the event audiences forget that these dancers are exceptionally skilled in the art of classical ballet.

Bob Seger
TampaFebruary 05, 2015 7:30 PM
Tampa, FL 33602
Before Bob Seger experienced massive mainstream success in the late-1970s and early 1980s, he was a local musician in Detroit, Michigan--playing dive bars and honing his stills as a singer/songwriter. The years he spent in this lesser-known, formative stage undoubtedly helped Seger because when he did breakthrough with his 1976 album, Night Moves, he was sure enough of his talents to deliver when it came to performing in front of crowds and recording ear-catching follow up records. Though Seger spent his dutiful time in the cultural limelight, his popularity has receded to a moderate state; but Motor City musician hasn't let his fame ebbing deter him from continuing to tour and release studio material that is constantly characteristically Seger.
