    »Sundsbergs Gård

Originally a Manor house, the Sundsbergs Gård is now a museum that displays artifacts on domestic life. The historic building is quite impressive and the artifacts range from kitchen displays to drawing rooms and other household settings. Each display is labeled according to the century and decade it belonged to. On display are also art works relating to forestry and textiles along with a dental museum. The Sundsbergs Gård's building in particular is an attraction of sorts. Having being featured as a beautiful setting in the epic novel, the site certainly qualifies as an interesting museum along with having a popular touristic appeal. For more details, do call ahead.

    »Rottneros Herrgård

Situated along the Lake Fryken, the beautiful Rottneros Herrgård (Rottneros mansion) was made famous in Gosta Berling's Saga as the mansion Ekeby. The saga was written by Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlöf who was the first woman to win the prestigious award in literature. The original structure was built in the middle of 18th Century, however, what we see today is the reconstructed mansion made of stone after the fire in 1929 that burnt down the structure. The reconstruction was commissioned by Svante Påhlson - former owner and real life major and the elegant structure was designed by the architect Georges von Dardel. Today, the mansion along with the park is renowned for its architecture and the collection of sculptures belonging to artists such as Erik Grate, Christian Eriksson, Carl Eldh and Per Hasselberg.
