    »Globen City Shopping

    The Globen shopping center houses over 50 shops as well as the Globe Sports Arena. You could easily spend an entire day here. There are restaurants, cafes as well as a bakery. Most people visit the shops before heading for a concert or game at the Globe Arena. And if you're driving here, good news - the mall offers two hours of free parking.

    »Åhléns

    This central department store is Stockholm's largest in terms of the number of shoppers who frequent the store everyday. It features brands like PTA, GAP and Mexx, as well as the Åhléns brand Å, with a section for young ones called Att. There is a good home department and a small restaurant and café. The ground floor houses a food shop with a small bakery. During the run—up to Christmas, the store extends opening hours.

    »Skivfönstret

    Located just above the Skanstull subway station, Skivfönstret is a popular record store. It specializes in rock and pop and you'd also find a good selection of Afro-American artists. This is one of the few stores which is well-stocked with music of local artists. The employees here are surprisingly knowledgeable and really helpful.

    »Andreas Skivor

    This is one of Stockholm's best record stores, which stocks music records with jazz influences. Rap and house get their fair share of shelf space as well, and the selection of the music is firmly placed off the charts. Every item in the store is elaborately designed to fit the futuristic vibes. There are three turntables, where you can listen to an unknown 12-inch record before buying it. Andreas Skivor also sells vinyl and CDs, and by chance if you are interested in obscure classics you can find them here; second-hand or new.

    »Sneakers'n'stuff

    Sneakers'n'stuff is a tiny store with a grand selection of sporty footwear. They stock well-known brands, but are known principally for their more unusual and unique, colourful items. Located in the southern part of town, Sneakers'n'stuff also sells T-shirts and other items that say 'Södermalm', which is the name of this young, bohemian district. Some clothes, mostly sweatshirts, hang on the racks as well.

    »Södermalm

    Sodermalm has emerged as the new trendy neighborhood of Stockholm. Less touristy and less pricey than central Stockholm, Sodermalm has widespread popularity among locals, particularly in its epicenter: SoFo. Many tourists have also sought out this area because it is the setting of Stieg Larsson’s best selling novel "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". If you are a big fan of Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, then be sure to sign up for the Stockholm City Museum's walking tour of Sodermalm that is specifically catered to show the sites of the thriller novels.

    Opened by Julio Carbonel, El Barrio is one of the city's most prominent record shops that deals in Latin music. You will find the latest salsa, merengue and tango records, which are imported mainly from Miami, New York and Colombia. It even sells dance instruction videos. You can order a record, which you'll get in two to seven days. Most impressive is Carbonel's limitless knowledge about Latin music. He'll willingly talk about the history and origins of salsa, his personal experiences, the fake salseros roaming the streets of Stockholm and lots more. So, stop by if you're a true Salsa lover.
