    »Restaurant at the Sopwell House

Wide expanses of green pastures, towering trees, and an elegant Georgian House are few of the reasons to visit the Restaurant at Sopwell House. The restaurant serves an amalgamation of British and French Cuisine, which is served to visitors with culinary finesse. Try the Warm Stilton served with vegetables and wild mushroom fondue. Want to try something a bit more familiar? Have a go at the Smoke Filet of Beef or the exotic Pan-fried Calves Liver. The wines are allegedly rather expensive, and the service impeccable.

Definitely a thumbs up for Auberge du Lac on all aspects, mainly food preparation and presentation as well as the service backing it. The wine list cannot be ignored too, after all there is a long list to choose from. The French flair is maintained in the cooking even though young head chef Phil Thompson is very much British by birth! The setting in the grounds of Brocket Hall couldn't be a better location for the restaurant. If there is any question about the taste of the food served; it can be directed at the celebrities, families and regulars who keep revisiting the place.
