The Lincoln Home National Historic Site is the celebrated home of Lincoln, who lived here in the crucial years spanning from 1844 to 1861, prior to becoming the 16th President of the United States. The historic site preserves this Springfield, Illinois home. Unlike most lavish homes of other presidents, the Lincoln Home is inclined towards simplicity. However, it has been drawing large crowds ever since it was opened to the public. The prime reason behind this has been the fact that the ethnicity of the 19th-century home is still maintained under due observance. Accessible for tours between 8:00a to 5:00p, it offers extensive hours of visiting during the summer.
Copies of original letters, baptismal certificates and more may be viewed here at this old church.
