Eastern Illinois fields a number of men's and women's teams in sports such as baseball, basketball, cross country, football, volleyball, swimming, soccer, golf and rugby. Notable alumni from the university include retired MLB player Tim Bogar and NFL quarterback Tony Romo.

Greensky Bluegrass is a bluegrass band from Kalamazoo, Michigan that was formed in 2000 as a three-piece outfit. While recording its debut album Less Than Supper in 2004, the band decided to fill its soundscape by hiring a bassist and dobro player. After the band acquired these two additional instrumentalists, it managed to anchor its jangly sound and gave its live performances depth. Greensky Bluegrass released the first volume of its live album series, All Access in 2009, followed by Volume 2 in 2010. With its refined sound, the band began to reach out to a broader audience, particularly with its fourth and most acclaimed studio album, Handguns. The effort debuted in 2011 at number three on US Bluegrass charts.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (also known as "LA Tech") represent the intercollegiate athletic programs and teams of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. The team has competed with Division I standing as a part of the Western Athletic Conference since 2001. As of July 2013, LA Tech left the WAC to become a member of Conference USA (C-USA). The Bulldogs currently hold nearly 200 national and conference titles and have produced nine known Olympians, six of whom have gone on to earn gold medals.

The Loyola Marymount Lions represents the athletic programs and intercollegiate teams of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. The university has NCAA Division I affiliation and competes in the West Coast Conference--a collegiate sports conference consisting only of religious universities. Loyola Marymount's men's basketball program found some success throughout the 1980s and 1990s, making it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament in 1990. Other men's and women's sports programs at the university include water polo, baseball, softball, tennis, cross country, soccer and more.

Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, oftentimesabbreviatedto Louisiana State University or simply LSU is a public university based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana that was founded in 1860. The Tigers are the teams that compete on behalf of the school in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Western Division of the Southeastern Conference.
