Managing to incorporate a tongue-in-cheek style of humor into its music, the duo has had an easy time attracting a varied fan base of listeners who like 1980s-influenced synth sounds andrigorously produced electro rhythms.

Brooklyn four-piece Bear Hands formed in 2006 and with its standard post-punk style indie rock, popularized by The Strokes and Interpol in the early 2000s, the group has built a moderate-sized fan base. Though Bear Hands doesn't create anything particularly unique, it manages to make some decent rock with catchy choruses and fairly well-written melodies

    Dr. John

    495 W. Dickson Street
    Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701
One of New Orleans most famed living musicians, Dr. John's career has spanned a broad range of styles and has included collaborations, work in film and television and a notorious stage show. However, no matter what he dabbles in, Dr. John's roots in Louisiana's bayou music are always evident. Initially beginning his forays into music in the 1950s as a studio musician guitarist, his career was halted after a gunshot injured his ring-finger while he tried to defend fellow musician Ronnie Barron. Dr. John was forced to give up serious guitar, but began playing the bass and eventually the piano. By the late 1960s, Dr. John, who assumed his stage name based on a legendary voodoo doctor, had begun creating solo work that fell into the New Orleans funk genre and involved a voodoo/Mardi Gras styled stage show. He quickly gained a cult following and started working with the likes of Eric Clapton, The Band and Mick Jagger. Dr. John continues to release new material and tour today, and in 2011 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

    Fayetteville, AR 72703
Centered on legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, the rock outfit Santana was founded as the Carlos Santana Blues Band in the late 1960s. Born in Mexico to a father who played violin in a mariachi band, Santana picked up both the violin and guitar at an early age and eventually left Mexico and for San Francisco. While working as a street busker he met other musicians who were intent on creating an eclectic and world friendly rock sound, and Carlos Santana Blues Band was born. Inspired by jazz fusion, funk, psychedelic rock, blues rock and of course Latin music, the group shortened its name to Santana and first came to public attention after a performance at the now iconic Woodstock Festival of 1969. Since the release of its eponymous debut album the same year, Santana has released over 20 albums in the last few decade including 2012's Shape Shifter, solidifying Carlos Santana's reputation as one of Latin rock's most renowned figures.
