Located in Waitsfield, Mad River Glen is a ski area within the Green Mountain Range. Founded in 1948, it has been dubbed the most challenging terrain on the east coast of United States by SKI magazine. It is renowned for one of the only two ski areas in the United States to have a single chairlift. »Burton Island State Park

Located off Vermont's mainland, this state park encompasses the entire Burton Island. Spread over 253 acres (102.38 hectares), Burton Island State Park is a lush green space nestled amidst the pristine blue waters of Saint Albans Bay. The park opened to the public in 1964. Burton Island State Park features hiking trails, and is a great spot for fishing, rowing or swimming. Various picnic tables and tent sites are offered here. Access to the park is only by boat, and it operates only from May to September; call ahead before visiting.
