Originally forming in 1991 as an acoustic duo in Vermont, Strangefolk quickly grew into a five-piece rock-oriented jam band. Though the group dealt with a good amount of tumult in regards to record deals and lineup changes, Strangefolk has maintained an extensive and devoted fan base on the jam band scene. The founding members left the band in 2000 and 2005, respectively, but the group kept on and continued putting on the Garden of Eden Festival the band yearly in New Haven. In 2012, the band announced that it would play a set of reunion shows with the founding members, much to the delight of fans everywhere.

Combining fuzzy indie pop with infectious melodies, Alvvays makes sugary sounds that are sure to stick in your head. This five-piece band was created in Toronto when lead vocalist Molly Rankin and next-door neighbor Kerri MacLellan joined forces. They met up with guitar player Alec O'Hanley and later with Brian Murphy and Phil Maclsaac, who respectively play bass and drums, to complete the new-born quintet. Between touring with Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Peter Bjorn and John, playing with Wintersleep, and recording with Chad VanGaalen, the band busily worked on new songs, resulting in its popular single "Adult Diversion". The song earned a fair amount of internet hype and eventually attention from Polyvinyl Records, who signed Alvvays and released the band's self-titled debut albumin 2014.

The Kopecky Family Band may not be related by blood but there's definitely a family vibe to their easygoing style of twee, country-tinged indie rock. The band trades off call and response boy-girl vocals over a bed of guitars, drums, bass, cello and violin. From their beginnings inside a practice room at Belmont University, the Kopecky Family Band has been making unpretentious, feel-good music since 2007.

Amon Amarth is a Viking-themed melodic death metal band from Scandinavia whose name is drawn from an alternative name for J.R.R. Tolkien's Mount Doom. With titles like "Twilight of the Thunder God," "Thor Arise," and "The Crusher," it's not too much to expect that these guys might be extreemly tall tattooed Norsemen.
