One of the most memorable songwriters contributing to modern independent music, Conor Oberst is multi-instrumentalist and vocalist best known as the front man of indie rock band Bright Eyes. Before providing a voice to his many projects, he self-recorded his debut album Water on a cassette tape in 1993 at the age of 13 with what would become his and his brother's independent label, Saddle Creek Records. Oberst spent the mid 1990s playing in bands such as Commander Venus, The Faint, and Park Ave. while also starting a solo project called Bright Eyes, which quickly evolved into a melting pot of different musicians revolving around a core trio of Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott. He would go on to release eight Bright Eyes albums within the next decade, starting with 1998's A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997, while extending his reach to more musical endeavors including Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band and Monsters of Folk, which were born in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Acting the primary songwriter for most of his projects and somehow finding time to consistently release solo material including 2009's Outer South, Oberst was unsurprisingly named the best songwriter by Rolling Stone in 2008 and is well on his way to becoming one of indie rock music's most iconic artists.

See the sparks fly when a Baptist church stuck in its ways starts considering a highly qualified but decidedly female candidate as its new pastor in the thought-provoking drama "Women in the Pit". Mount Zion Baptist Church hasn't had a proper pastor in six years and under the poor leadership of its elders and deacons, membership is plummeting. So the head honchos put the job on the market, but things get hairy when the best applicant to emerge winds up being the Rev. E.R. George, a devout, fiercely intelligent religious figure who also happens to be a woman. Contemporary and traditional Biblical arguments ensue as churchgoers take both sides of the fence, and the Rev. George's troubled daughter finds herself caught in the middle.
