It was established by John P. Hickman and boasts 1760 acres (710 hectares) of land area. The Alabama Historical Commission manages this property. The plantation is open for viewing from Wednesday to Saturday, 9:00a through 4:00p. The site staff is efficient and arranges for guided tours. Surrounding the house are a whole lot of gardens, cemeteries, grounds and historic buildings that can be explored.
