Call it a dive if you want but there are quite a few televisions with sports on all day, and the place is usually pretty crowded with some fairly upscale types. You can play darts, pool or trivia games on the video machine. This is a fun, safe place, especially for women going solo. The music is pretty awesome and the service is quite nice too! Right in the heart of downtown Campbell's more upscale venues, this is a popular haunt.
Fiesta San Jose in South San Jose, offers a great line up of live music entertainment apart from its regular spin of good DJs. The place gets pretty crowded on weekends and is full of a lively bunch of locals. The music usually has a cool Latin twist while the bands often play traditional songs and corridas. The bar churns out some stellar drinks at fair prices, and there isn't any cover charge, so the service is pretty nice too. Drop in for a muy caliente party!
This blues joint has been around forever, and nearly everyone who is anyone in the world of blues has played here. It is a tiny, casual sort of place with photos of jazz greats and other celebrities covering the walls. Come into this long, skinny music venue and drown your sorrows while bluesmen of all ages crank it out on stage to fans from all over the Bay Area. Admission varies by event.
Supposedly, this is the longest bar in San Jose. Even if that is not the case, it is long enough to warrant entrances on both First Street and Second Street. A lengthy and skinny establishment, it caters to mostly working class types and locals who pound Coronas all night. There is a DJ sometimes, if you feel like cutting the rug a little. It is a good place to escape the urban sprawl. In fact, you can barely even notice it from here.
This Latino joint has been a favorite San Jose meeting spot for quite a while and once you step inside, you will quickly see why. You can listen to salsa music or dance to live bands performing high-energy Hispanic music along with a stylish crowd. The signature beverage is Jarritos, a tropical Cuban mixture of fruits and liquors that is sweet and refreshing. A very spacious, elegant establishment, it does not allow sportswear, so dress up while heading here.
