Built at the end of the 18th century, this old building houses the state governor's offices. It is a neoclassical creation with a grand staircase and eight columns that frame the main entrance. Past exhibitions have included Chinese classics in 187 pieces from the Xpan Dynasties and mixed media presentations of a variety of artists from France, Poland, Australia, Italy and the United States. The Estadio de Béisbol Monterrey is a prominent baseball stadium located in the Parque de Niños Héroes. Since its opening in 1990, this stadium has rose in prominence in the baseball scenario of the country, and has hosted some very memorable national as well as international matches. Boasting a capacity of 27,000 spectators, this stadium is the largest baseball stadium in Mexico. One of the memorable encounters witnessed here was the 1996 game between the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets , which marked the advent of Major League Baseball in Mexico. Besides baseball matches, the stadium also plays host to cultural events, like concerts and festivals.
Estadio Tecnológico hosted the Mexico FIFA World Cup in 1986. An obvious haven for football lovers, it has been in operation since 1950. The home football team, Borregos Salvajes, practice their free kicks here. Originally, the stadium could accommodate just about 19,000 people at a time, but a major overhaul has now allowed for 38,500 football-crazy fans per game!
