»Centro Cultural Alfa Museo y Planetario

Created to inspire scientific, technologic and artistic endeavours, this cultural centre inspires those who visit. The modern cylindrical architectonic design resembles a telescope craning toward the horizon. It houses the Museo de Ciencia, Arte y Tecnología (Museum of Science, Art and Technology) as well as an Omnimax system multi-plex theater for a colossal panoramic screen measuring 24-metres in diameter. There is a coffee shop and gift boutique.

»Centro Cultural Arte

Near the Palacio del Obispado we find this cultural center which opens its doors to different artistic manifestations. In its numerous exhibit rooms, there are displays on subjects ranging from photography to architecture. Sculpture and painting are well represented here by local and national artists. Besides their temporary individual exhibits, there are some collective exhibits in which new talents are given the opportunity to demonstrate their potential. Admission is free.

»Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MARCO)

This museum is one of the most important and best-known museums in the city. Architect Ricardo Legorreta designed the modern building in 1990. The sculpture, La Paloma (The Dove) at the entrance is by Juan Soriano. Its 11 exhibit halls—distributed on two floors—display important contemporary Latin American contemporary paintings, sculptures, architecture and designs of famous artists. Cultural events are regularly scheduled and there is a gift shop with arts, crafts and souvenirs of the museum, plus a pleasant café on the first floor.

»Museo de Historia Mexicana

History does not have to be boring and tedious, as this museum for Mexican history demonstrates. Four exhibit halls illustrate in a unique manner the political, economic, cultural and social development of the nation, from ancient times to the Colony and its Independence up until current times. Models, paintings, antiques, videos and even interactive computers recreate the main events which defined Mexican identity. Monthly cultural events and educational activities are scheduled. A video archive and a reading room are available.

»Museo del Vidrio

This Monterrey museum showcases why the area is so well known for its glass making. Past exhibitions have included Chinese classics in 187 pieces from the Xpan Dynasties and mixed media presentations of a variety of artists from France, Poland, Australia, Italy and the United States. »Museum of Steel

One of the dominating part of Monterrey's skyline is the Horno 3 blast furnace. It is a part of the Museum of Steel, one of the largest museums in the city.
