Monterreal, the city's only ski resort, located in the municipality of Arteaga in Coahuila state of Mexico, offers several other activities like golfing, hiking, horse riding etc. People gather here in numbers to enjoy skiing and romance on the snow filled slopes. The slopes are 230 meters (754.6 feet) and 45 meters (147.6 feet) respectively. The higher slope, also the main slope has a spring box drag lift, whereas the other slope meant for beginners has a conveyor lift. The best season to ski on natural snow is December to January.
Cumbres de Monterrey National Park is a nature park which has one of the largest cave systems in the country. It is also the famous Huasteca Canyon that offers tourists opportunities like hiking, climbing, camping and bird watching. There is a visitor centre near the entrance of the park from where you can grab a map and also book a guided tour of the Garcia caves. There are sculptures of stone and ancient paintings that speak of human existence throughout the park. The easily accessible part of the park is the Chipinque which offers three levels of hiking paths to choose from. Due to the climate changing very often, but mostly remaining tropical, the parks water bodies are home to a number of fish species, some of which are endangered. A marvel in the park is the 82 feet (25 meters) waterfall that drops over boulders making it resemble a horse's tail.
What child would not like to live an experience in the middle of the jungle, while his or her parents enjoy their shopping? This is possible here in Plaza Fiesta San Agustín. Jungle Jim is a recreation center for children, located in one of the common areas in the mall. It has fun slides, mazes and balls. The decor, as its name suggests, evokes an exuberant vegetation with simulated animals. The personnel in charge of coordinating the children are dressed safari-style, with khaki colored shorts and T-shirts.
Cerro de la Loma Larga, are the ranges that naturally divide the cities of San Pedro Garza García and Monterrey, that lies to its east. Cerro de la Loma Larga, which is the Spanish translation of 'Long Hill Mountain', is an ideal climbing spot, making it a favorite of those indulging in mountaineering. The hill is home to the Basílica de Guadalupe and a Diana Cazadora statue, which demarcates the border between the two cities. In 2000, Loma Larga Tunnel was constructed through the hill, connecting Monterrey and San Pedro Garza García.

With a distinguished shape like that of a saddle, Cerro de la Silla is the city's famous landmark. Along with being a recreational area, the mountain offers rock climbing, hiking, trekking and camping as activities for enthusiasts. The ascent to the top may be slightly difficult, but the summit offers a spectacular panoramic view of the entire city.
