The performers at this intimate 125-seat theater showcase everything from dance and drama to comedies and classics. The theater's founders created productions in different venues around town when they first began in 1992, however in 2001 the present building was purchased and renovated later with state-of-the-art technology. The non-profit theater also hosts an annual Playwrights' Festival from mid-July through August, where two first-time productions are selected from state wide submissions.
Epic Theatres of St. Augustine is one of many theaters held under the Epic brand. This theater group has many scattered throughout northeast Florida and all come equipped with the latest high-definition and Dolby technology. This one in St. Augustine Beach is no different, where the projectors screen blockbuster films in rocking chair love seats. The theater is also handicap accessible and there is a game room near the concession counters.
The Flagler College Auditorium is the main venue for speeches and symposiums held under the auspices of the school. It is also used as a setting for plays, concerts and performance art as well. Most of the productions come from the university's students, yet the stage also hosts children's theater and senior citizen's programs with greater audience participation.
First-run Hollywood movies and critically acclaimed films are shown at this cinema that also features comfortable seating and a large concession stand.
This IMAX theater, despite its location in the World Golf Village complex, shows blockbuster films and documentaries from Hollywood, not those just featuring golf. Fortunately, showtimes run seven days a week, and the last show is usually at 10pm (although the projector screens midnight movies on occasion). The screen is grand and just like many other IMAX theaters across the country, this one also offers an exhilarating show.
The only IMAX theater in North Florida, this theater offers a wide range of exciting and educational films for the entire family to enjoy.
Since its opening in November 2012, The Standard has created a huge following primarily among hip-hop, reggae and Caribbean music aficionados. However on certain nights, the variety of DJs and live acts runs the gamut at this intimate space. The owners also put on other events like art shows, release parties and private functions. The venue has a seating capacity for 300 spectators, however it can accommodate more with standing room only.
Built in 1965, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre then commemorated and honored the 400th anniversary of America's oldest city. Since then it has become one of the most lauded and venerable venues in town. Throughout the year it is abuzz with activities and events; from concerts, movie screenings to performance art, this event venue has hosted almost everything. It's location in Anastasia Park is also unparalleled, with the green foliage that envelops the stage, it only enhances the sound and beauty of this outdoor venue.
First Coast Opera provides operas and operettas for discerning fans of these two specific dialogue based, musical genres. It's comprised of both professional and student singers and actors from across St. Augustine and the North Florida region and performances feature Shakespeare alongside other well-known pieces. Moreover, the cast and directors are extremely involved with the community, in which they provide workshops, classes and programs that foster respect and sponsorship of the arts.
This bowling alley run by Sunbelt Recreation Centers is located down the A1A from the historic district near the surfside town of St. Augustine Beach. The lanes here are great for all ages and the center offers rental space for birthday parties, corporate events, and league nights. Overall, a nice change of pace from the tourist hustle and bustle near the Colonial Quarter. Rates are always reasonable and there is a theme night every week that has specials on shoes.
This miniature golf course located right next door to the La Fiesta Ocean Inn & Suites is a nice little entertainment venue that you hardly ever see adjacent to many hotels. It's a ton of fun for all age groups and an especially great diversion for kids. Some of the features on the course include waterfalls, caves and continuing the omnipresent 'Spanish Discovery' theme in St. Augustine, players can put around a wrecked galleon. There are light refreshments and guests who are staying at La Fiesta receive special discounts.
