»Acid Mothers Temple

April 21, 2015 9:00 PM

When the Japanese psychedelic rock band Acid Mothers Temple formed in 1995 the group's main intention was to make "extreme trip music." As one can imagine, a bunch of Japanese rockers making drug friendly music is extremely provocative and worth more than just a passing listen. By overdubbing and adding layers of nuanced sound, Acid Mothers Temple makes music that isn't well suited for a mainstream audience but is perfect for a class of listeners who are looking for something obscure and off the beaten path.

»Kaiser Chiefs (Rescheduled From September 16; 2014; 19+ Event)

April 21, 2015 8:00 PM

The five-piece post punk outfit Kaiser Chiefs was formed in 1996, under the name As Parva. After a turbulent first few years of existence, the band released its 2003 debut album, 22, failed to perform well on the charts, the group was quickly dropped from its label. As Parva changed its name to Kaiser Chiefs and with a fresh name in addition to new material, the band managed to land a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Redefining its sound to a more staunch new wave and punk-inspired sonic aesthetic, the quintet released its 2005 album, Employment, which was met with commercial and critical acclaim, launching the band to the forefront of British indie rock music.
