Like most alt-country acts on the scene today, the Georgia based group Drive-By Truckers believes in the undaunted power of analog recording equipment. The group employs no real synthesized instruments--in fact, the group has three guitarists--and when the band goes into the studio, it prefers to lay down its songs on two inch tape as opposed to digital recording methods, the industry standards. The nostalgic approach to song writing/recording that Drive-By Truckers employs is working to the group's advantage, however. The band has been a favorite of critics ever since it released its debut LP in 1998 and with a rousing stage show that highlights each member's instrumental prowess, Drive-By Truckers has proven to be one of the more rewarding alt-country bands to track.

Outside Mullingar

"I don't hate you," says Rosemary to Anthony. "I just don't like you." In John Patrick Shanley's ("Doubt, Moonstruck") Tony Award-nominated "Outside Mullingar", two introverted neighbors living in rural Ireland have known each other for years, but their lives intersect sharply when a parent dies and property rights come into question. Ultimately a tenderhearted romantic comedy, Shanley's play about new love in middle age has received rave reviews. Charles Isherwood of "The New York Times" called "Outside Mullingar" "Shanley's finest work since "Doubt"," which won a Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize in 2005, and inspired the 2008 movie starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams.
