A town rich in history and culture, Prescott was founded as the Territorial Capital of Arizona in 1864. After losing this status to Tucson in 1867, and then regaining it in 1877, it was Phoenix that finally nabbed the privilege of being the State capital. Named after the historian, William H Prescott, this town is home to several architecturally significant buildings, especially the ones on Whiskey Row, with 809 of these structures being on the National Register of Historic Places. Prescott also has a rich cultural scene and is the venue for events like the Frontier Days, the Bluegrass Festival, the Acker Music Festival, and the Cowboy Poets Gathering. See the website to know more about the town.
