Playhouse Jr. is the second oldest children's theater in the United States. The plays revolve around tales about Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood and the Pied Piper. More than 45,000 people a year attend these productions. The theater is associated with Point Park College.
The Ironworks is a contemporary music venue that is also an equally popular pizzeria. The Antonian Theatre sits on the campus of Carlow College in Oakland. The 915-seat theater is home to the Carlow College Theatre Group. The company performs at various facilities and schools throughout the Pittsburgh area. They specialize in historical dramas, to integrate a rich ethnic heritage with their theater arts training.
The Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre was founded in 1996 to promote works by Irish, English and classical dramatists. Each season, the group of local and national actors performs three plays. The production's location varies according to the theme. Performances have been held at the City Theatre, Lester Hamburg Studio Theatre and Pittsburgh Playhouse.
The University of Pittsburgh has three theaters including the Henry Heymann Theatre. The Henry Heymann Theatre is located within the University at the Stephen Foster Memorial.
