    »Every Time I Die, Counterparts

    October 02, 2014 8:00 PM

Buffalo, New York-based hardcore band Every Time I Die is one of the most popular bands in the subgenres of metalcore and mathcore. Signed to major label Epitaph, the band has gone from modest beginnings to a fairly illustrious career. Known for its cheeky, sarcastic lyrics, the band often combines musical aggression with a certain self-effacing comedy, allowing their music to be significantly more accessible than other metalcore bands of a similar style. The group's following seems only to have grown in proportion to the time it has been around, helping prove that the the band's fan base will no doubt only continue to grow.

    »Zz Top

    October 03, 2014 9:00 PM

The Texas-based blues rock outfit ZZ Top rose to prominence in the early 1970s with its dirty brand of southern rock and wailing guitar solos. After releasing its 1971 debut album, fittingly titled ZZ Top's First Album, the band established its raw, earthy sound and attitude with fuzzy guitars and rollicking rhythms. Each of the band's subsequent releases throughout the decade earned critical acclaim and a fair amount of radio play, proving that the three-piece band's Texas drawls and dirty jokes resonated with fans outside of the Lone Star State. ZZ Top continues to release its bluesy southern rock music and remains one of the most easily identifiable acts around with two of its three members sporting bushy, chest-length beards.

    »Leann Rimes

    October 04, 2014 9:00 PM

Leann Rimes has been in the limelight for nearly the entirety of her life. The Jackson, Mississippi native began taking singing lessons at the age of two and shortly thereafter performed in local talent shows, eventually working her way up to singing the national anthem at Dallas Cowboys football games by the age of 9. After nearly being cast in a Broadway rendition of Annie, the young songstress decided to stray from musical theater and focus on a singing career. With her father as her manager, Rimes finally caught the ear of songwriter and DJ Bill Mack, who decided Rimes should sing his song "Blue," which he'd originally written for Patsy Cline before she was killed in a plane crash. This single proved to be the catalyst for Rimes, and at the age of 13 she became the youngest artist to ever win a Country Music Association award. Rimes continued to release album after album of country pop backed by her powerful vocals, never failing to impress fans. While the singer has been surrounded by her fair share of scandal, she continues to maintain an impressively successful career that shows no sign of slowing anytime soon.
