St. Stanislaus Kostka Church was built to cater to the Polish Catholic community St. Louis. Established in 1880, the church was designed by Wessbecher & Hummel in the Polish Cathedral style. The structure features a red brick facade, with two tall towers on either side. Though called a church, St. Stanislaus functions independently of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. A legal battle between the Archdiocese and the church management brought the church into the city's headlines; it was finally resolved in 2013.
