New Orleans metal band Crowbar has been around since 1989 and has released eight albums throughout its career. The band has been described as a doom-core metal band by the press, setting off a genre-storm that would see Crowbar become the godfathers of a new metal style. The band has gone through many different core members throughout its history, with lead singer/visionary Kirk Windstein remaining the only constant. The band released its ninth album, Sever the Wicked Hand, in February of 2011.

Creating swampy blues-folk that conjures up images of the Louisiana bayou and forgotten ghosts, Timber Timbre front man, Taylor Kirk initially recorded a set of demos in an abandoned wood cabin. Kirk soon merged with two other Ontario, Canada based musicians to create a three-piece band, subsequently self-releasing two albums before grabbing the attention of Canadian indie label Arts & Crafts.

An evening ghost walk is a fun way to learn more about Ottawa's history. Departing from D'Arcy McGee's Irish Pub on Sparks Street, the lantern-lit tour explores graveyards and old haunts during the 90-minute walk. Scary stories, all true, are the only things that are going to jump out at you; there are no unexpected surprises en route. It is a great family night out. Wheelchairs are welcome, but some assistance getting over a few curbs may be necessary. See their website for further information.

Buffalo, New York-based hardcore band Every Time I Die is one of the most popular bands in the subgenres of metalcore and mathcore. Signed to major label Epitaph, the band has gone from modest beginnings to a fairly illustrious career. Known for its cheeky, sarcastic lyrics, the band often combines musical aggression with a certain self-effacing comedy, allowing their music to be significantly more accessible than other metalcore bands of a similar style. The group's following seems only to have grown in proportion to the time it has been around, helping prove that the the band's fan base will no doubt only continue to grow.
