You do not have to be a country-western fan to enjoy this popular city nightclub. Guaranteed fun for all, Club Rodeo features an indoor bull riding arena. There are also some great nightly drink specials, and ladies night is every Wednesday. The decor is nothing spectacular - mainly wood furnishings and neon signs. The real draw is the atmosphere.
Here at Cowboys OKC, the drink specials on the weekend are some of the best in the entire metro OKC area. And if you like country music, you're in luck because unlike most trendy and modern places downtown, honky-tonk is as contemporary as you will get down here by the airport. Nonetheless, with 25 cent beers until 10pm on the weekends and live bull riding in the middle of the place, it doesn't get any more Western than this.
Sherlocks Night Club is a great place for live music fans to get together for drinks. This bar/club dedicated to local rock bands provides a needed boost to the sometimes staid live music scene of Oklahoma City. Despite its location in a nondescript strip mall on North Portland Avenue, it is still a pretty cool place to see live music during the week. The majority of concerts held here attract a large 'rocker' crowd not just from the city but also from the nearby suburbs.
Whether you are a folk fan or a hard rocker, the Blue Door likely has something to suit your taste. A unique venue, the club is part of owner Greg Johnson's home, adding to the intimacy of shows. The 100-seat room hosts performances by singers and songwriters. No big arena spectacles here, and what the club calls "roots-oriented" bands. You probably are not familiar with Blue Door regulars like Jimmy LaFave and Terri Hendrix, but give them a night of your time and you will be swept away by the music. Check the website for details of upcoming gigs.
