One of the most prolific artists of the last century, Bob Dylan is singer/songwriter and guitarist who first rose to recognition as a fixture of New York City's folk scene during the 1960s. With politically-charged lyrics and no concern for the conventions of folk or pop music, he became a highly influential figure of the counterculture in the US as he document the nation's social unrest through his songs. Though he invited criticism by using electronic instruments to create his brand of folk, his revolutionary songwriting style, particularly on the celebrated single "Like A Rolling Stone,"and his fearless combinations of rock and roll, blues, gospel, jazz and traditional folk profoundly shaped popular culture and continues to hold weight in today's ever-shifting music world.
