This world-famous museum was founded by Prince Albert I in 1910. Albert, who was deeply involved in and had a great passion for oceanography, decided to turn the place into a palace entirely devoted to the sciences of the sea. This majestic construction, built above the Mediterranean sea, features an underground zone filled with 80 aquariums, as well as a ground floor dedicated to skeletons of sea animals such as the blue whale (20 meters / 65 feet long) or the Japanese Crab (2 meters / 6.5 feet in diameter). The first floor is a general exhibition of Prince Albert I's various sea-faring explorations. .
