The park is established on a total land area of 3,300 acres (1,335 hectares). The park is an active constituent of the northeastern coastal forests Eco-region. It is a state park located in Delaware alongside the Brandywine Creek. Before becoming a state park, it was a dairy farm owned by Du Pont family. It contains two nature preserves - Tulip Tree Woods and Freshwater Marsh. They have several long trails including the Rocky Run Trail and the Greenways Trail. They have a Nature Center that offers natural history and environmental education, school and scout programs, and much more. It has around 933 acres (377 hectares) of land and is open year round for visits.
