Cross the causeway from Highway 17 to the north part of Pawleys Island to enjoy a pristine public beach where there are no high rises or commercial properties. Its name comes from a former 18th century rice plantation. Located between Georgetown and Myrtle Beach, the area is simply known as Litchfield. The southern part of Litchfield is open to public use, accessible between various homes. Parking is limited and there are no lifeguards or public facilities. However, bring a picnic lunch and beach gear and enjoy the peace and quiet. Bring your dog, but keep it on a leash between 9a-7p. Call ahead for precise timings.
