"Renowned as the finest library in Lake County," this large library features a collection of over 95,000 books and magazines, as well as audio cassettes, videos, art prints, and puzzles. An extensive reference section is also available.
One of the prime historic landmarks in Eustis is the Ferran Park and the Alice McClelland Memorial Bandshell. Ferran Park is the pioneering public park built in Eustis Circa. Designed and structured by Alan J. Macdonough, the architectural style followed is Mediterranean Revival. Carrying immense historic value over the years, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 23, 1994. Also, it became a contributing property to the Eustis Commercial Historic District on July 6, 2005.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this historic home was built by Mr. G.D. Clifford for his family and is now the home of the Eustis Historical Museum & Preservation Society. The house is located on the shores of the scenic Lake Eustis and features two great hallways and 18 magnificent rooms.
Designed by one of the first American women architects, Katharine Budd, the historic home called Duncan House was established in 1925. Designed in the Colonial Revival style of architecture, it is located on the Lake Dora Drive. Now used as an event venue as well as a bed and breakfast, the building adds a certain old-world charm and grace to the neighbourhood.
The Mote-Morris House is a charming home with a splendid blend of architectural styles. This two-story house includes a four level steeple, a palour and a music room. The L-shaped staircase leads to the bedrooms on the second level. This house is open to the public as a historical home, and is also available for social functions and events.
Believe it or not, Florida actually does have vineyards that produce wines that have been winning awards in national and international competitions. One of those is right here in Central Florida, where a vineyard is tucked away in sleepy Clermont. In operation for more than a decade, Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards grows and sells award-winning red, white and blush wines. Daily tours explain the business of winemaking, and the winery also sponsors a number of wine-tasting events throughout the year.
Rock Springs Run State Reserve, found 30 miles north of Orlando in Sorrento, provides visitors a chance to experience Central Florida in its native setting. This reserve encompasses over 10,000 acres of wetlands and dry areas, plus natural waterways in the form of springs and a river that nearly surround the boundary of the reserve. Visitors can choose from several outdoor activities, such as bicycling, hiking, horseback riding (rentals and tours) plus canoeing and wildlife viewing. The park highlights consist of 17 miles of multi-use trails spread throughout and overnight lodging including cabins, equestrian campsites or canoe campsites. Local amateur horse shows held at this 40-acre public equestrian park (usually on weekends) spotlight best-of-breed competitions, the dressage skills of young and amateur riders, jumping prowess and racing aptitude. The park also houses the Mid-Florida Midget Race Track and Association. A 'midget car' is a special vehicle designed for children ages 6 to 16. Junior Mario Andrettis regularly show off their racing skills on this track.
Adjacent to the scenic 188 acre Sylvan Lake, this 126 acre park is a soccer lover's paradise and features a sports training facility with six soccer fields. Recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, tennis, racquetball, volleyball, football, soccer, lacrosse, jogging, and hiking are available.
