    »Monty Python's Spamalot

    July 25, 2014 8:00 PM

If you're looking for outrageous musical comedy, you've just found the Holy Grail. "Spamalot" is a hilariously over-the-top extravaganza from Monty Python alum Eric Idle that borrows lovingly (and unapologetically) from the film classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". In telling the tale of King Arthur and his epic quest with the Knights of the Round Table, this endlessly amusing musical -- which won three Tony Awards including Best Musical during its original Broadway run -- features such outlandish oddities as flying cows, killer rabbits and The Knights Who Say Ni (with some gorgeous showgirls thrown into the mix as well). The musical numbers feature plenty of Python favorites including "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "The Song That Goes Like This."

    »Bonnie & Clyde

    July 25, 2014 8:00 PM

It was once said of Bonnie and Clyde, the his-and-her gangster team, "They're young. They're in love. They kill people." And now, thanks to this rousing and breathlessly exciting new musical, you can add a fourth description: They sing. Composed by Frank Wildhorn ("Jekyll & Hyde") with lyrics by Oscar-winner Don Black ("Sunset Boulevard"), "Bonnie & Clyde" weaves rockabilly, blues and gospel music into the story of how two small-time nobodies in West Texas became America's most notorious folk heroes. San Jose Stage Company presents the regional premiere of this Tony-nominated tale of love, adventure and crime.

    »Side Show

    July 25, 2014 7:00 PM

The Tony-nominated musical "Side Show", inspired by the true story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, stars talented performers ages 14 to 20 from Children's Musical Theater (CMT) San Jose. The show follows the two sisters -- who're literally joined at the hip -- on their meteoric rise to fame during the 1930s and beyond, tracing their personal and professional lives from circus sideshow freaks to vaudeville headliners, as well as their lifelong search for independence and love. From Henry Krieger, the composer of "Dreamgirls", with book and lyrics by Bill Russell, "Side Show" features the songs "I Will Never Leave You," "Who Will Love Me As I Am?" and "Come Look at the Freaks." "Side Show" is a cult-classic at CMT San Jose -- returning every seven years, it's now enjoying its third production there.

    »Joe Rogan

    July 25, 2014 8:00 PM

Certain individuals possess such a strong sense of character and individuality that it's difficult to interfere or get in the way of their staunch personality. Comedian Joe Rogan is one such character. He has held a number of different roles over his career, including co-host of The Man Show, Commentator for Ultimate Fighting Championship and host of the reality television program Fear Factor, but he originally got his start performing stand up comedy. As outspoken as they come, Rogan has derailed other comedians for what he perceives to be plagiarizing and is not afraid to call someone out if he believes a stand up comic is ripping off of another comedian. His razor sharp commentary on the life of a man living in the 21st century is considered offensive by some, but others consider him to be one of the leading comedians of his generation.
