Paterson Field is a well known baseball stadium located in Montgomery. With a maximum capacity of 7,000 odd people this is one of the largest stadiums in Alabama. The seating arrangements is made up of box seats and metallic bleachers. This big stadium has been home to NCAA Division II Baseball Championship and the All-American Association in the past. It is now used by local teams for high school and college baseball tournaments and for the NCAA Division II baseball championship. Cameras are not allowed inside the stadium premises.
Located at the Auburn Montgomery, this complex features a 4,050 seat arena for basketball games, three locker rooms separate for men and women, a synthetic track on the second level, weight room, trophy cases and seven athletic offices. Physical Education Complex is also home to the Physical Education Department of the Auburn Montgomery. Graduation Ceremonies of the University are held here and so are events like the American Red Cross High School Basketball Classic and the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). All-Star Week basketball games are held here too.
The Alabama Department of Archives and History is the official collector and curator of the heritage of Alabama. This institution, established in 1901, archives material related to the state's history and culture. Its museum displays several portraits, paintings, sculpture, artifacts and memorabilia of people and events that shaped Alabama.
Built by retired Air Force Captain Jimmy Easterling, this facility has become very popular with locals and tourists alike. It is a 1/4 mile NHRA drag strip located on the north side of Montgomery. The track is very well maintained even though it holds many races. There are dozens of motels and restaurants within minutes of the track. Events such as the Ultimate Foot brake Challenge and the Super Chevy Show have taken place here. So don't miss the action the next time you visit Montgomery.
If you happen to be in Montgomery, do visit its downtown area. With attractions like Davis Theater of Performing Arts and Dexter Museum, this part of the city does hold an attraction of its own. Classic structures blended beautifully with contemporary architectures are scattered throughout the place. Besides, various new projects are undertaken like the Riverwalk Stadium that would give this place a whole new bunch of attractions.
