J.J. is young boy with a wild imagination and dreams of following in the footsteps of his piñata-making father. But these big dreams are threatened by the looming presence of big business piñata wholesalers, whose industry threatens the existence of the very tradition itself. Now, despite his father's protestations that he give up his dreams and pursue a more practical path, "Piñata Dreams" finds J.J. drawn into a fantastical world where piñatas and alebrijes can come to vivid life.

Dave Koz is a hugely successful American saxophonist who works mainly within the genre of jazz, primarily smooth jazz. Koz first gained recognition as a solo artist in the early 1990s, releasing a series of successful solo albums under Capitol Records. In 1994, he moved into radio, co-hosting a program on L.A.'s 94.7 The Wave, a popular smooth jazz station. After hosting for over a decade, Koz moved on in 2007, handing his duties over to fellow artist Brian McNight. Koz has been operating his own record label since 2002, and has since been self-producing a barrage of successful jazz albums. In 2009, Koz got his own star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
