    Discover an amazing variety of animals and birds at this fantastic facility established in 1963. The sprawling Great Plains Zoo spans 45 acres (18.21 hectares) and boasts of an extensive collection, including a host of exotic as well as endangered species. The beautifully laid-out park features lush enclosures and expansive areas for a pleasant experience to both, the animals as well as visitors. Kids can have a whale of a time with the camel rides, the train ride through the park, the carousel and much more.     »Pettigrew Home & Museum

    This restored Queen Anne-style home was the residence of South Dakota's first senator, Richard Pettigrew. Pettigrew opened his own public museum in the rear of the home in 1925, to display his collection of such items as stone tools, projectile points, Native American clothing, guns, natural history specimens and items related to the settlement of Sioux Falls. He left his home and museum to the city of Sioux Falls to be maintained as a museum when he died in 1926.

    »Old Courthouse Museum

    Constructed of native Sioux Quartzite stone, this restored building includes slate stairs, granite pillars, stained glass windows, tiled fireplaces, 16 large murals painted between 1915 and 1917 and three floors filled with regional history exhibits. Unique gifts, historic toys, books and souvenirs can be purchased in the museum store on the first floor.
