As the name suggests, this hall of fame was made to honor all those who contributed to the sport of racing in Canada. Established in 1976, this hall of fame has annual inductees for horses, jockeys, horses and trainers.
Located within the Meadowvale Cemetery, The Korean War Memorial Wall was inaugurated in 1997. The huge granite structure is 200-feet in length and contains 516 plaques made of bronze each dedicated to Canadian soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War. Developed by the students of horticulture of Humber College in 1977, Humber College Arboretum is located behind its north campus. Spread across 250 acres (101 hectares), the beautiful arboretum is home to over 1700 types of animals and plants. Take a stroll in the garden to enjoy ornamental displays like Garden of the Rising moon. The Humber Arboretum Centre for Urban Ecology offers various informative and educational programs for people of all ages. The Brampton Libraries date back to 1858 when it was founded in Mechanic's Institute of Brampton. Today the system includes five individual libraries serving various communities within Brampton and the nearby towns. The Chinguacousy Branch of Brampton is located on Central Park Drive in Bramalea neighborhood of the town. A hub for many activities and educational programs for children and teens, the library also features a gallery called Chinguacousy Library Gallery which has showcased great Canadian artists like David Blackwood and many more.
Opened in 1903, the Gage Park is one of Brampton's earliest municipal parks. This urban park is still a central aspect of community life with beautiful gardens and trees adorning the park. Man made attractions at the park include a gazebo, a fountain and a veterans monument. Also famous for recreational activities, the park is well known for its rollerblading and jogging trails, wading pool and playgrounds. Known for its magnificent architecture, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir at Toronto is a masterpiece in itself. A Hindu worship place, this temple was built over 18 months and encompasses a large area of 18 acres (7.28 hectares). Located in close proximity to Etobicoke, it open throughout the year, for worship and visits alike. Displaying a royal sense of architecture, it makes use of 24,000 pieces of hand-carved marble, Indian pink stone and Turkish limestone. Open for visits throughout the day, the temple also boasts of a haveli, or a cultural center, along with a Hindu heritage museum. Dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the temple has a beautiful idol, that is centrally located in the building.
