Opened as the Hartnett Hall Theater in 1977, its name was changed to Aleshire Theater in tribute to Dr. Harold G. Aleshire, an esteemed theater professor of the Minot State University (MSU). Nestled in the Hartnett Hall, this space is used for film screenings, large meetings, presentations and plays. It is the main stage of the MSU Theatre Arts Department.

The North Dakota State Fairgrounds are comprised of 164 acres of show and livestock facilities. There is also a grandstand with a dirt track that seats 7,000 guests.
