The Cave of the Mounds is one of the most significant caves in the Midwest of the United States. The rock from which the cave is carved dates back over 488 million years, with the cave itself beginning to form over a million years ago. The cave was discovered by limestone quarry workers in 1939, and was opened to the public as a show cave in 1940. The cave is particularly renowned for its brilliantly colored rock formations.
Tyrol Basin is a ski resort set near the Mount Horeb area in Vemont. Various winter activities for beginner as well as an expert are present on site. It has a bar, a gift shop and a lodge. Private events take place on a regular basis. Check their website for promotions and events.
