The place's name translates to "the old smoke house" and has the festive feel of a German country inn. The best of the wurst on the menu includes bratwurst, weisswurst, knackwurst plus a wide range of schnitzels and smoked meats (rippchen). Reasonably priced entrées and daily specials are featured in addition to an impressive selection of German beer.

The Monastery is a Metro Phoenix favorite as a friendly neighborhood pub to relax with your friends or family. One of the main attractions of The Monastery is the large outdoor space that comes complete with volleyball court, horseshoes and a firepit. Another outdoor offering is a Monastery tradition: grills for you to cook your own food on. If you're not in the mood to do your own cooking, they also have a full service food menu to go along with the full bar. Even though its a pub, The Monastery is child friendly, as long as the kids stay out of the upstairs bar and within sight of their parent (and the kids are out by 8p).
This old-fashioned-style drive-in focuses on doing high-quality American food in a nostalgic atmosphere. Enjoy your meal in the colorful dining room, or take advantage of good weather by eating at the picnic tables outside and enjoy beautiful views of the farm the grill is located on.
