The original Sacred Heart Catholic Church was constructed in 1887, near the Kamloops Cenotaph; however tragedy struck and the church burned to the ground. In 1925 this beautiful cathedral was built to serve the Sacred Heart parish of Kamloops. Designed by W.H. Macaulay, Sacred Heart Cathedral is a red brick structure, featuring Romanesque architecture. Carrara marble, imported from Italy, was used to make the original altar, which is still in use today.

The Ashcroft Indian Band is an Indian Reservation area located near Ashcroft, British Columbia and is also a part of the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council. The reserve is home to community gardens, which provide employment opportunities to the local tribes and help to grow local produce that is fresh and nutritious. Visitors can also make bookings at the community campsite in order to get a closer feel of the local culture and traditions.
