Chestnut Square Historic Village is a quaint collection of structures ranging from the 1850s to 1920s. Located near the Town Square, these buildings are complete with period accents and artifacts. Step inside The Faires House, The Taylor House, The John H. Johnson House, The Dulaney Cottage, The Dulaney House, Dixie's Store and The Bevel Reception House to get a glimpse of Collin County in a bygone era. There is also a chapel which used for weddings, parties and receptions. All these historic dwellings have been restored to its original glory to preserve the heritage of the county. Tours and various activities are held throughout the year.
With a great deal of bloodshed and gore, Slaughter House is certainly not for the weak-hearted. Located in Downtown Dallas, this haunted house offers a mix of interactive and non-interactive characters who take you on a horror trip never witnessed before. With new additions in the decor and props, this place delivers the promised chill to the audience. Special Halloween Night is an event which people look forward to at Slaughter House. Although, this haunted house offers reasonable rates for its attractions, it barely qualifies as a must-visit. But if you happen to be in the Downtown area and are in a mood for unusual entertainment—Slaughter House is a safe bet.
Spanning 212 acres (85.79 hectares), Erwin Park is a delight with lovers of the outdoors, with off-road and mountain bike trails as well as thick forested areas. The park also has an expansive playground and picnic pavilions.
The Heard Museum is a science museum and features several nature trails for walking and hiking, conducts workshops and camps and many other programs. It was founded in 1967 and strives to preserve the nature.
The Stonebridge United Methodist Church is a beautiful church in McKinney. The church conducts regular services and features many programs for kids and adults alike.
The Edge at Allen Station Park features facilities for thrill-seeking sports enthusiasts. Here, you'll find the largest skate park in Texas, which blows the competition out of the water at 37,915 square feet (3522 square meters). You'll also be able to hone your skills at the BMX track. This facility provides a lot of opportunities for fun, but be sure to bring a helmet and other safety equipment.
Ridgeview Ranch Golf Course is an exclusive golf course in Plano. The golf club organizes golf tutorials and tournaments too.
Russell Creek Park is a local community park in Plano. The park is equipped with soccer and baseball complexes, a lake, hike and bike trails, playground and restrooms.
Spread over a whopping 800 acres (323 hectares) of lush greenery, the Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is the largest park in all of Plano. Families and groups take full advantage of the soft surface trail and concrete trails that run along the Rowlett Creek, offering panoramic views of some spectacular flora and fauna. There is also an amphitheater which plays host to live gigs, cultural and community events.
Bob Woodruff Park is located in the city of Plano. This park has a number of trail loops with several spurs that connect to the nearby trails of Nature Preserve. Spot a number of community treasures like the Armstrong Middle School and The Outdoor Learning Center. Spot the quincentennial Bur Oak located to the south of this park, as you walk along the trail.
