    Pride & Prejudice
    Sanborn County ParkAugust 31, 2014 7:00 PM
    16055 Sanborn Road
    Saratoga, CA 95070
Jane Austen's "Pride & Prejudice" remains one of the most popular romances of all time, some 200 years after its publication. The bitingly funny tale has spawned multiple film and television adaptations as well as every type of book spinoff imaginable, where Austen's enduring heroes do everything from solve mysteries to fight off zombies. Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company's new stage adaptation of the beloved story highlights everything that gives "Pride & Prejudice" its timeless appeal, from its wicked sense of humor to the irresistible charm of its characters. Under a canopy of redwood trees and a crystal clear night sky at Sanborn County Park, the sparklingly witty Elizabeth Bennet and the handsome but haughty Mr. Darcy try to overcome their pride and prejudice to find love and happiness together despite the rigid social rules of regency England.

Adapted from Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, Wicked re-tells the story of The Wizard of Oz from the point of view of Elphaba and Glinda, two ofthe witches of Oz. According to this version of the famous story, the wicked witch of the west is a misunderstood character whose complex childhood and dramatic history with several of the story's beloved characters, particularly the Wizard of Oz himself, have attributed to her "wicked" reputation. Written primarily for adults, Wicked raises questions about our contemporary ethical standards.

    Comedian Ralphie May
    ImprovAugust 31, 2014 7:00 PM
    62 South Second Street
    San Jose, CA 95113
It all started for Ralphie May when he won a contest to open for his idol, comedian Sam Kinison, at age 17. Things snowballed from there, leading up to a second-place win on the first season of Last Comic Standing in 2003. That led to appearances on "The Wayne Brady Show", "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno", "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and more, not to mention platinum-selling DVDs and podcasts. Audiences love his no-nonsense point of view and his ability to connect with a diverse audience by pointing out society's hypocrisies. He's big, he's bold, and now you can experience his hilarity live at the San Jose Improv.
